Big Game Report #1
By Chase Bailkin
Tonight, the 14-4 Western Conference leading Lakers will travel to Philadelphia to try to extend their 3 game win streak against the 12-6 Eastern Conference leading 76ers who are coming off an embarrassing loss to the NBA’s worst team - the Detroit Pistons. LeBron James is coming off a season high 46 points in the Lakers’ win over Cleveland, and you can expect him to carry that momentum into the team’s biggest game this season. There is a chance these two teams can meet in the finals, and both teams know that. The Lakers opened up as 2 point favorites in this matchup but have steadily grown to 3.5 points favorites, likely because of the Lakers tough play as of late and the 76ers tough loss to the Pistons. The 76ers seem to always find ways to win late when they play at home, but against the best team in the league and reigning champions, I don’t see them being able to climb back into the game tonight. I expect tough defense from both teams, and the Lakers to win by at least 5. Take the Lakers spread and the under 221.5 points tonight.
