Odell Beckham Jr. is officially a free agent and can sign wherever he wants, but it may not be that simple. Odell’s relationship to drama has definitely turned a lot of teams off, especially those with solid systems in place that don’t put up with any sort of distractions. Usually those teams are ones that we see in the playoffs year after year, like the Packers, Saints, and Seahawks, which happen to be Odell’s top 3 preferred landing spots. Unfortunately for Odell, I cannot see the Packers signing him because they have a very strong receiving core with Davante Adams, Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb, and Marques Valdes-Scantling. Rodgers plays his best ball when he is throwing to guys he’s familiar with, so I don’t think Odell would bring much value to this team that is already 7-2 without him. Next up, the Saints may very well sign him because they just lost Michael Thomas for the remainder of the year and while their other receivers are solid, they don’t have a true #1. However, I believe Odell may rescind his desire to play for the Saints since Jameis Winston tore his ACL, and the Saints are no longer a passing threat behind Trevor Siemian. I may be wrong about that, but nothing Siemian has done in his 2 games has shown me that the Saints will still have a good passing game, so I cannot see Odell still wanting to play there. Lastly, the Seahawks, is where Odell will end up in my opinion. The Seahawks are struggling (3-5), and desperately need to make a push for the playoffs. Luckily, Russell Wilson returns this week so they should get back on track. With that said, Chris Carson is still injured so they will likely rely on their passing game, especially since they have a strong receiving core of DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. I believe Odell would complement these 2 very well, and Russell has one of the best deep balls in the game. I can see Odell thriving in this atmosphere and with the enthusiastic Seattle fans. I not only see this as a great opportunity for Odell to get his career back on track, but for the Seahawks to turn their season around and possibly win a wild card spot if they can make a run late in the season. Stay tuned for updates on Odell.
